Director's Comments
Question to director: Do you have any additional thoughts on what parents should consider when looking at your school? Is there any advice that you would like to provide to prospective parents?
Be sure to look for a program that meets your family needs. We are a small, intimate program that takes pride in getting to know each of our families individually. We welcome families from out of state and only maintain a current year wait list. Our NAEYC accreditation requires our staff and programming to have higher standards than those required by the State of California. I always suggest that parents check the NAEYC website for a check list of what to look for in an excellent preschool program. Be sure to check on methods of parent communication and standards for cleaning and maintaining the facility. Also be sure to ask about education level and tenure of staff, and background clearances of other adults working on the premises.

I love the school's philosophy or learning through play. This was my son's first school experience, and he loved it. All the activities are so thoughtfully planning with teachers who execute them with such tender, loving care. As a parent, I just want my kids to love learning and for them to connect with their teachers. Every day as I drop my son off at school, he runs to his classroom and can't wait to find what cool activities are in store for him. At pick-up, I can always count on the teachers at the door telling me what he did that day. This is my son's second year at this preschool. At the first year's end-of-the-year assessment, I was shocked at how much he had learned in such a short amount of time. He only attended twice a week and for three hours a day, yet he learned all the alphabet, uppercase and lower case with the except of one letter. And it was all through Hope. I truly recommend this school for its loving staff, the curriculum, its philosophy, and its director.

Any issue that arose was dealt with immediately and kindly to everyones satisfaction.

Highly educated staff, security checks for all staff, differentiated instruction, teachers who are mother's themselves and a very small and cohesive sense of community. All staff welcome you each day and are willing and able to communicate events daily!

A very family like atmosphere. I feel my children are safe and loved.

Wise Words to Remind You to Watch the Amazing Show of Childhood
One of the most dog-eared and spine-cracked books on our Savvy Parenting Shelf is Wendy Mogel's The Blessing of a Skinned Knee . This month's look at the big picture of parenting and childhood prompted yet another return to the wisdom in Dr. Mogel's pages:

Sometimes parents get trapped into believing their children have to be perfect and that they have to somehow offer every single opportunity to their children to learn at the youngest possible age so they will grow up to be, well brilliant. Sometimes we
