Often times, you will hear teachers telling the friends to 'use their words'. We do not have time outs or isolate the child. We talk to the child about the incident that happened.
Director's Response to a Sample Discipline Scenario
Description of how teachers handle the following scenario: Child A and Child B are good friends and usually play together. One day, Child A decides to play with Child C and tells Child B, 'I don't want to play with you today. I'm playing with Child C instead.'
Child A has a choice to play with whoever s/he wants to-however, if child C is upset about this, we ask Child A and B if child C can play with them. If they say no, we will find something or someone to play with child C but almost always, the teacher will take child C and play with him/her.
