Director's Description to School's Approach to Discipline
We make the rules very clear and use the treat others the way you want to be treated philosophy. We keep the students very engaged in age appropriate activities that prevents alot of discipline issues. If there is an issue we follow the one minute for each year old rule.
Director's Response to a Sample Discipline Scenario
Description of how teachers handle the following scenario: Child A and Child B are good friends and usually play together. One day, Child A decides to play with Child C and tells Child B, 'I don't want to play with you today. I'm playing with Child C instead.'
We would try to get chikd b to play with some one else or come up with a game that all three children could play. I would discuss with the whole class the issue of treating others the way you want to be treated and talk about feelings.
Food Allergies
- We do not allow certain foods in the classroom
- We ask parents to provide child-safe snacks for their allergic child
Medications
- We call parents when the child needs medication
