The curriculum is "balanced" with lots of specialized classes and instruction in addition to child-led activities.

I characterize this component as teacher-led because there is a Spanish teacher, dance and PE, a storyteller and a librarian. The math and language arts jobs are freely chosen by the students though and they have a great deal of flexibility and support in those tasks.
