Parents' Comments
Parent #1
The school is only in its second month and is evolving quickly. While the overall approach is child-centered and play-based, because of the Spanish-language component, there is a deliberate effort to engage the students in conversation (if they are ready) or to narrate and describe their activities to help them develop the relevant vocabulary in Spanish.
Parent #2
The school embraces developmentally appropriate practices and is play-based. However, teachers/parents play a very active role in ensuring the children are engaged, extending the learning, etc. Also, because of the emphasis on acquiring the Spanish language, the teachers/parents in the classroom put particular emphasis in narrating and describing the children's play, asking them questions to draw them out, or incorporating new vocabulary into the play.
Parent #3
Between snack and lunch, children choose between the usual indoor and outdoor "stations", which are available to them all day, and additional teacher-led activities such as dance/movement, a more complex art project in the dedicated workshop, helping to prepare lunch and sometimes even planting activities in the garden. If they prefer to play on their own or have a book read to them, that is encouraged, too.
